Backup Event Location

When a backup runs it logs the results in the event viewer, the location of the event depends on the backup application being used. 

You can use the information in the events to resolve problems and Naverisk uses them to determine if the backup was successful.

The most common are the following:

  • Windows Server Backup (Server 2008 or later), Windows Backup via command line and task scheduler, Windows 7 Backup:
    • Applications and Services Log -> Microsoft -> Windows ->  Backup -> Operational
    • Source: Backup
    • Success event id is 4.

  • NT Backup (Server 2003):
    • Application Log
    • Source: ntbackup
    • Success event id: 8001

  • Ahsay Backups:
    • Application Log
    • Source: WSH
    • Success event id: 4

  • Backup Exec: 
    • Application Log
    • Source: Backup Exec
    • Success event id: 34112
