Outlook Password Prompt
Posted by Tony Garton on 23 June 2020 02:40 PM

Outlook has the "Needs Password" prompt but there is nowhere to enter the password.

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity, create a DWORD value named EnableADAL and set it to zero.
  • Under the same registry key, create a DWORD value named DisableADALatopWAMOverride and set it to 1

Restart Outlook and the password prompt appears.

Or

If that does't work - go to Windows Settings  >Accounts > Work or School Accounts
Remove the account from here and the prompt should no appear properly.

If multi-factor authentication is enabled on the user's account, may need to create an app password and sign in to the outlook profile with the app password created.
